Kiln Drying
Utilize our kiln to dry your cut lumber to produce furniture grade lumber. We use a Nyle dehumidifier kiln to dry and sterilize your lumber so you can use it in weeks rather than waiting for months/years for it to air dry. Air drying alone is not sufficient for furniture grade lumber and can host bugs/eggs.
Drying temperature and humidity closely controlled to ensure proper drying rate.
Consistent monitoring of lumber moisture content to track drying rate.
Sterilization cycle (140 deg F) at end of run to kill insects/eggs.
Optional heat cycle of 150/160 deg F to set pitch (Pine/Spruce).
Load Capacity (max 12.5 ft length)
400 BF (Pine/Poplar)
1000 BF (Hardwoods)
2026 Kiln rates
$23/day ($300 minimum) for dedicated full load. (Daily rate and minimum will be less if there is a similar load that can be combined.)
Sterilization Cycle ($150) - Do you have a solar kiln and just need to finish off your lumber? We can run a sterilization only cycle to kill bugs/larvae.
Drying times are very dependent on the initial MC (moisture content), species and thickness of lumber. Air drying the lumber first will reduce the time (and your cost) required in the kiln.
Drying Rates (approximate)
4/4 Green Pine - 80% to 8% in approximately 12 days.
4/4 Green Oak - 65% to 8% in approximately 35 days.
